About our new CEO
We thought we’d ask our new CEO a few questions so you can get to know him! Let’s take a look at what he said.
When you joined the company, what were you involved in?
I was involved in the development of the original set of software applications created by Data Interchange, this was the early days of the automotive EDI industry and I worked on the implementation of the ODETTE OFTP protocol which had recently been created. Initially, I worked on IBM AS/400, IBM OS/2, and Microsoft Windows to develop the first release of Odex, then I moved to the Unix platform and developed ODEX/plus.
What do you like to do outside of work or as a hobby?
As a keen cyclist and runner, I like to get out and run several times each week throughout the year. When we have decent weather, I also enjoy challenging myself and completing a few half marathons. I feel that keeping fit physically is a fantastic way to make you feel good, but mental health is as equally as important and that is why I spend some time reading and enjoying being outside in the fresh air with my family.
What would you like to bring to Data Interchange in your new role as CEO?
I am a keen believer in providing opportunities and growing people through their careers, and Data Interchange offers many career paths. Within the teams I’ve previously managed, there are now several Senior Managers who started life at Data Interchange as young graduates. This is something I wish to continue.
Name an achievement you’ve made at Data Interchange that has stuck with you.
I worked closely on the development of our first software products and services in the 1990s. Later I was heavily involved with the creation and development of the OFTP2 protocol which has become the de facto communications protocol used by the automotive industry for EDI data transmissions.
Lastly, what are you looking forward to in your new role?
I am looking forward to ensuring that our customers continue to receive high-quality service and Data Interchange continues to be the point of reference for EDI knowledge and excellence. Most importantly, I look forward to listening to our people and making sure Data Interchange remains a welcoming and fun place to work.
